The Geopolitics of International Law:
Contemporary Challenges for the Asia-Pacific

The Chinese (Taiwan) Society of International Law will hold the International Law Association (ILA)-American Society of International Law (ASIL) Asia-Pacific Research Forum on May 19-20, 2017 at Howard Civil Service International House in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China. The theme of the Research Forum is “The Geopolitics of International Law: Contemporary Challenges for the Asia-Pacific.”

The Research Forum is organized in partnership with the ASIL Law in the Pacific Rim Region Interest Group and the Research Center for International Legal Studies of National Chengchi University. It will provide a forum for academics, private practitioners and government attorneys to examine contemporary international law issues in the Asia-Pacific.

Research Forum Venue

The Research Forum will take place at Howard Civil Service International House, which is located in the heart of Taipei’s most vital financial, shopping, entertainment and cultural districts. Visa to Taiwan

Nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, with a duration of stay of up to 90 days: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA, Vatican City State. Nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, with a duration of stay of up to 30 days: Malaysia, Singapore.

Other Information

Taiwan’s unit of currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (NT$). The exchange rate is approximately NT$32 to USD$1. Foreign currency can be exchanged at airports, hotels and government-designated banks.
