Food Security

譚偉恩

The initial definition focused on the ability of states to assure an adequate food supply for its citizens. However, this emphasis was not comprehensive and sophisticated. As a conceptual goal, Food Security has to expand, for example, to satisfy basic human needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Now, the definition of Food Security adopted by UN, WHO, and FAO is: “All people at all times have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious foods to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active healthy life.”
